JobbSynk

JobbSynk has been discontinued since August 2026. It was a fun project to build, but the time was needed elsewhere: focus shifted to BraLeads, ArgusMetrics, and consulting work instead of maintaining another side project.

The original need was that job hunting is repetitive: read the ad, work out what the employer actually wants, compare it to your own CV, and write a fresh cover letter for every application. It takes time and turns into guesswork about how well you really match. The goal was a tool that does the interpreting and writing in seconds, without the user having to create an account or hand over their data.

JobbSynk was a Next.js app where you pasted a job ad (link or text) and uploaded your CV as PDF, DOCX, or TXT. OpenAI analyzed how well the CV matched the ad, highlighted strengths and gaps, and generated a cover letter tailored to that specific role in around 28 seconds on average. Meilisearch provided lightning-fast search across the data.

Privacy was built in from the start: no cookies, no analytics, all data stored temporarily in the browser's LocalStorage and cached for just five minutes. Over its lifetime, over 689 CVs were analyzed and 93% of users gave it a thumbs up.

Lessons learned: not every side project needs to live forever. It's fine to shut down something that worked well, to make room for what delivers the most value right now.
